Environmental Footprint of Cellphones on the Bryant Campus
Our team will be focusing our study in two directions for this project. The first is to understand what exactly makes up the “Environmental Footprint” of a cell phone user. This will start from the original source materials of a cell phone, to its manufacturing, to its use by an owner, and finally to its disposal. We looked at multiple sources including but not limited to scholarly articles, online publications, newspaper articles, and scientific journals to find such information. By the end of the project, we hope to have a greater understanding of what kind of environmental impact is created by using a cell phone.
The second direction of this study was creating a survey for Bryant students to fill out that asks them questions regarding awareness of their own “Environmental Footprint.” This gave us a snapshot of how aware young college students are of the issues at hand. We believe that this is a great target to study because this demographic is made up of heavy cell phone users. The goal is also to create more awareness for the students that fill out the survey.
